Given the recent House Committee vote to slash funding to the Corporation For Public Broadcasting I thought this was very interesting and compelling. The very fact that a committee is having this vote speaks volumes to me about their desire to totally control the flow of information. PBS and NPR provide vital services in terms of information and children's programing and are worth funding fully and being allowed to produce programming for all of us - even if some find it threatening or offensive. The problem as I have come to understand it is tht this administration seems to act in a particularly fascistic manner when it comes to information. Their idea of spin is not to attack an idea or spew out reams of counter statistics like their predecesor's but instead to attack what they see as the source of the information. In this case they can't deny press credentials or behave as if the reporter doen't exist so they attempt to close the institution.
